Design

Drawn first. Made once.

Garrick’s latest hand-wound calibre was designed and built in its own workshop. Its look is meant to be distinctly British, down to the balance bridge and the free-sprung balance.

The workshop keeps exploring new designs, complications and innovations, and its bespoke service lets a client specify the details of their own watch.

The workshop

Inside the workshop

Three stages of a Garrick, as they happen in the workshop in Norfolk. Engine turning, the first, has been used in metalwork since the late 18th century.

“The machine provides the controlled movement. The hand controls the cut.”

Our story

Read our story
The Garrick workshop in Norfolk: a watchmaker at his bench among the tools and lathes

Garrick was born of a desire to make fine watches with a distinctly British character.

Founded by David Brailsford and Simon Michlmayr, it makes its own free-sprung balance and engine-turns its dials in its own facility in Norfolk. No more than 50 watches a year, each one built to order.
